LED Spotlights for Your 4x4 Vehicle
LED spotlights are a real addition to your 4x4 vehicle. They not only provide better visibility but also add something to the appearance of your vehicle. Rules for Spotlights on Your Vehicle
There is a lot of confusion about the rules for using spotlights on a vehicle on public roads. It all has to do with ECE-R112 certification. When a spotlight is ECE-R112 certified, it can be used as a high beam. In that case, the lamp must comply with the rules that come with the use of high beams.
High beams should not be used when other vehicles are approaching. High beams should also not be used when you are following another vehicle. Of course, it should only be used in the dark. When you are driving in front of another vehicle with no oncoming traffic, you can use high beams. Flashing high beams is also not allowed. If you do this, you risk a fine.
Other Certifications
In addition to the ECE-R112 certification, there are other important certifications to consider when purchasing your vehicle lighting. The two most important certifications are the CE mark and the ECE-R10 certificate.
The CE mark is mandatory within Europe for various product groups, including LED vehicle lighting. The mark indicates that the product complies with all European laws and regulations. However, be sure that it is a genuine CE mark. There is a Chinese version of the CE mark, which stands for Chinese Export. The logos are almost the same but have very different meanings. The differences in the logos can be seen in the spacing between the letters and the dash in the letter E. The official mark has the letters further apart and a shorter dash. In addition to the CE mark, it is also important that the lamp is ECE-R10 certified. It can happen that when connecting LED lighting to a vehicle, other nearby devices start to interfere. This can be resolved by purchasing lighting that is ECE-R10 certified. These lamps have been tested for interference. You can be sure that you won't have any interfering devices when your lamp is ECE-R10 certified. Halogens vs. LEDs
LEDs offer many advantages compared to halogen lighting. Halogen lighting loses a lot of energy as heat, which is not the case with LED lighting. Furthermore, LED lighting is more resistant to voltage spikes, uses energy much more efficiently, and has a longer lifespan.
